Using Satellite-Based Data to Facilitate Consistent Monitoring of the Marine Environment around Ireland

چکیده

As an island nation, Ireland needs to ensure effective management measures protect marine ecosystems and their services, such as the provision of fishery resources. The characterization waters using satellite data can contribute a better understanding variations in upper ocean and, consequently, effect changes on species populations. In this study, nineteen years (1998–2016) monthly essential climate variables (ECVs), chlorophyll (Chl-a), diffuse attenuation coefficient (K490) were used, together with previous analyses sea surface temperature (SST), investigate temporal spatial variability around Ireland. study area was restricted specific geographically delineated divisions, defined by International Council Exploration Seas (ICES). results showed that SST Chl-a positively significantly correlated ICES divisions corresponding oceanic waters, while coastal significant negative correlation. K490 all cases, suggesting important role phytoplankton light attenuation. had trends most reaching maximum values 1.45% 0.08% per year, respectively. strongest seasonal observed VIId VIIe (the English Channel), primarily summer months, followed northern VIa (west Scotland) VIb (Rockall) winter months.

Monitoring of organic matter and soil salinity by using IRS - LissIII satellite data in the Harat plain, of Yazd province

Current study monitored Electerical Conductivity (EC) as soil salinity index and Organic Matter (OM) in the area of Harat in Yazd, Iran, through remote sensing technology with high spatial and spectral resolution. The images were selected from IRS, LISS III satellites between the years 2008 and 2012. After preprocessing and analyzing the images, the relationship between parameters of (EC) an...

Monitoring of SO2 column concentration over Iran using satellite-based observations during 2005-2016

For the first time, sulfur dioxide concentration was monitored between 2005 and 2016 over Iran which is among the countries with a high SO2 emission rate in the world. To that end, SO2 column concentration at Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) from Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) was analyzed. OMI is a sensor onboard the Aura satellite which can measure daily SO2 concentration on the global scale...

global estimote of geoid's potential, sst and marine geoid based on satellite altimetry data

using satellite altimetry derived mean sea level (msl), geopotential coefficients in terms of ellipsoidal harmonics from recent satellite gravimetry missions, gravity potential values over a grid consisting of 33,486 points at global sea areas are computed and the mean value of the gravity potential at msl is calculated as a new geoid’s potential value. in this way we have exactly followed the ...
